Job Perspectives

Graduate students will be able to continue their studies in a master program and complete their formation in the fields of data science and artificial intelligence, for instance by enrolling in the international master program in Data Science and Scientific Computing in Trieste.

Gradues willing to enter directly the job market can take the role of developers of artificial intelligence systems, data analyst, data manager, and software developer in many areas: IT companies, public administration, companies producing and dealing with big data such as financial institutions, biomedical and pharmaceutical industries.

In "The Future of Jobs Report 2018", artificial intelligence, widespread adoption of big data analytics, and cloud technology are three of the four technological advances set to dominate the 2018-2022 period. Furthermore, there will be an accelerating demand for completely novel specialist roles related to the understanding and development of AI, machine learning, and big data. (source: World Economic Forum - The Future of Jobs Report).

In the report "The future of work? Work of the future!" requested by the European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, it is stated that: "In an overall shortage of AI developers, small and medium-sized companies find it especially difficult to attract the needed talent to help them transition to AI."
